President Trump Is A True National Security Threat

“President Trump is a true threat to the national security of the United States.”
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) passed away early this morning. He was a giant in the Congress and one of its most highly respected members. Cummings was known for his fairness, and he had the ability to work across the aisle with Republicans. He was also a powerfully effective Chair of the House Oversight Committee and one of President Trump’s most effective critics. His passing is a tremendous loss for Congress and the country.
Meanwhile, the walls are closing in on President Trump.
A new Gallup poll found that by 52 to 46 percent the American people support both Trump’s impeachment and his removal from office. This is similar to a Fox News poll last week that found that by 51 to 40 percent the American people want Trump impeached and removed from office.
These numbers are building from the unfolding story of President Trump’s self-admitted efforts to pressure a foreign country, Ukraine, to serve his personal political interests by investigating Joe Biden, a potential political opponent in the 2020 presidential election. The rapidly unfolding Ukraine scandal is building public support for the impeachment and removal of Trump, which did not happen with the Mueller investigation.
At the same time, President Trump recently made a decision with historic negative consequences for the country and the world. In green lighting Turkey to move into Syria to slaughter the Kurds, who successfully led the battle to bring down ISIS at our request, the President made a monumental mistake. He set the stage for the return of ISIS, empowered Russia, Iran, and Syria in the Middle East, and left the United States isolated.
President Trump’s abandonment of the Kurds, who lost 11,000 troops fighting ISIS on our behalf, will be remembered as one of the greatest acts of moral cowardice and duplicitous conduct committed by a leader of our country.
As Speaker Pelosi said yesterday in facing down the President, “All roads with you lead to Putin.”
President Trump is a true threat to the national security of the United States.
