President Trump Is Not Above The Law

For months, President Trump has been irresponsibly attacking the Mueller investigation, the FBI, the Justice Department, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and former FBI Director James Comey.
Trump’s motivations are clear: He is out to discredit the Mueller investigation with the American people in any way he can with any lies and false statements he can come up with, and, if he thinks he can get away with it, to end the investigation.
Trump repeatedly claims in his incessant tweets that there was “NO COLLUSION.” But we already know from the June 9, 2016 Trump Tower meeting and from other events that the Trump campaign was eagerly seeking help from Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton. And neither citizens nor President Trump know what else Special Counsel Mueller has found in his investigation.
A new poll published by NBC News today shows that despite the ongoing attacks by Trump and his “see no evil, hear no evil” Republican crew in the House, a majority of Americans “have confidence in special counsel Robert Mueller conducting a fair and impartial investigation.”
We can expect the next round of attacks on the Mueller investigation very soon, when the DOJ Inspector General issues his report on James Comey and his actions in 2016 regarding the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails. The report is expected to strongly criticize Comey for mishandling the Clinton investigation, and Trump will no doubt try to misuse the report to attack the Mueller investigation – despite the fact that he was the beneficiary of Comey’s actions.
