107 House Democratic Challengers Call for Congress to Pass Sweeping, Bold Reforms First in 2019 Session
107 House Democratic Challengers Call for Congress to Pass Sweeping, Bold Reforms as the First Item of Business in the 2019 Session
In a letter distributed by End Citizens United for them, 107 House Democratic challengers wrote to all members of the House calling for bold, sweeping reforms to restore “faith in our elections and in the integrity of our elected officials.”
The letter called for the reforms to “be the very first item Congress addresses.”
The letter listed a number of reforms called for by the signers, including “limiting the influence of big donors on campaigns, quashing the political influence, real or perceived, special interests currently have in our government and providing incentives for donors to make small contributions to federal candidates.”
A recent poll found that corruption in Washington is the “most important” topic for 2018 candidates to discuss.
According to the letter from the challengers, “We hear day in and day out that special interests are drowning out the voices of everyday citizens – to the point where many Americans no longer believe their votes even count.”
The End Citizens United press release on the letter they distributed today to all House members can be found here and includes a link to the letter.
