New On Just Security: Detailed Chronology Of Alleged Trump-Cohen Hush Money Scheme
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is reportedly investigating criminal violations that may have occurred when Donald Trump and his team paid two women to stay silent about alleged affairs with the then-presidential candidate. A new report on Just Security provides a richly detailed chronology of events involving the alleged hush-money payments.
The in-depth chronology, covering the period 2014 to the present, relies on court filings, contemporaneous media reports, and extracts from The Fixers, written by two Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalists.
“In what may be the initial shoe to drop in a possible ongoing larger financial investigation,” the authors write, “Bragg has zeroed in on a set of activities that occurred in the course of the 2016 presidential campaign.”
Many of the individuals involved, including Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, have reportedly appeared before Bragg’s grand jury. Their involvement in the ongoing proceedings, the Just Security authors note, suggests that a Trump indictment may follow the events described in the chronology, lending it further significance.
“The Just Security chronology is an important and relevant roadmap to the actions of then-candidate Donald Trump and his team as they carried out their alleged hush-money payments during the 2016 presidential election,” Democracy 21 President Fred Wertheimer said. “This is a serious case and could lead to a criminal indictment of the former President. It’s crucial that citizens understand the facts of the case and this chronology is a useful tool to, as they say, ‘follow the money.’”
The Just Security chronology was prepared by Gretchen Knaut, Amb. Norman Eisen (ret.), McKenzie Carrier, Vicka Heidt, Greg Phea, and Madison Gee. It will be updated as the investigation unfolds.
