Democracy 21 Strongly Supports Effort Announced by Congressional Leaders Today to Enact Democracy Reforms

Democracy 21 strongly supports the democracy reforms announced today to repair our broken political system.
The “A Better Deal for Our Democracy” proposals developed by reform leaders in Congress address fundamental problems that are undermining our democracy and subverting our representative system of government.
Today, our country has a corrupt campaign finance system, a barrier-laden voting system, an ethically challenged government and a failed enforcement system for the government integrity rules that govern our public officials and officeholders.
The democracy reform proposals announced today contain effective solutions to a rigged political system that the American people wholly reject and that places the interests of the wealthy and powerful over the interests of ordinary Americans. When enacted, the democracy reforms will change the way business is done in Washington and restore the voice of citizens to a preeminent role in our democracy.
The coming years will see an all-out effort by many organizations and millions of concerned citizens across the country to enact the democracy reforms announced today. Democracy 21 looks forward to engaging in this battle for as long as it takes to win. In the end, our political system will be repaired and our democracy will be revitalized.
